What Are Positive Affirmations? Can They Be Used In Hypnosis to Increase Confidence Levels?
Positive affirmations are statements that are designed to reinforce positive thinking and beliefs. They are statements that are usually written or spoken in the present tense, and are designed to counteract negative
self-talk or beliefs. Examples of positive affirmations might include "I am confident," "I am successful," or "I am worthy of love and respect."
Positive affirmations can be used in hypnosis to increase confidence levels. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, cognitive flexibility and physical relaxation that can help individuals access the subconscious mind, which is where many of our beliefs and habitual thinking takes place and is stored. By using positive affirmations during hypnosis, a hypnotist can help the individual to reprogram their subconscious beliefs and build greater confidence and self-esteem.
During a hypnosis session, a hypnotist might guide an individual through a series of relaxation exercises and visualizations, while also incorporating positive affirmations. The hypnotist might repeat affirmations such as "I am confident and self-assured," "I believe in myself," or "I am worthy of success and happiness." Over time, these affirmations can help to shift the individual's beliefs and thought patterns, leading to greater confidence, self-esteem, and a more positive outlook on life.
In my professional experience, affirmations work in a state of mind and heart coherence, when there is no internal resistance to the feeling of worthiness and deservability.
Before I would suggest any of these positive statements to a client, I would use several techniques to regress the person to past event/s that are blocking the signals which internally translate to "I embody these qualities". Adverse life experiences, past trauma, invalidation, lack of emotional support in childhood, to name a few, all contribute to a skewed self perception, low self esteem, lack of self dicipline. Without a fertile ground, affirmations will not take root.
One way to strengthen the power of a positive self talk is to couple it with an activity, a color, an object. The more connection with a physical experience you build, the better your results will be.
Here is a process I recommend:
Do these exercises looking into your own eyes in a mirror once in the morning and once before bed every day for at least 7 weeks, starting on a Monday. This so called permission slip keys into archetypal symbols that are common to the collective consciousness.
MONDAY: AIR- One deep breath in & before each statement:
• I am a child of creation.
• I am unique.
• I am worthy.
TUESDAY: WATER- One sip of water before each statement
• I am happy.
• I am grateful.
• I am refreshed.
WEDNESDAY: FOOD - One small bite and swallow before each statement
• I am abundant.
• I am nurtured.
• I am fulfilled.
THURSDAY: LOVE & ENCOURAGEMENT- One hug with each statement:
• I am supported.
• I am guided.
• I am loved.
FRIDAY: FREEDOM - One spin, arms outstretched for each statement:
• I am awake.
• I am powerful.
• I am free.
SATURDAY: PASSION
• Say your favorite word.
• Listen to or make your favorite sound.
• Look at your favorite image.
SUNDAY: DREAM & CONNECT- Say each line with your eyes closed.
• I am rested.
• I am connected.
• My life is a dream come true.
These are just a few examples of the many positive affirmations that can be used to boost confidence levels. The key is to find affirmations that resonate with you personally, and to repeat them regularly, along with a physical anchor, stabilizer, in order to reprogram your subconscious beliefs and thought patterns.
